For grandma, who called him Nastreddin...

Nasreddin I

June 2012, Athens

Cheap souvenir from Istanbul. Love it!
Light sources are the desk lamp (cool) and the room's lamp (warm). I'm debating getting a makeshift spotlight/reflector of some sort...

Folklore

"Folklore" is the maximum deviation from the norm that the dominant culture can approve. (Therefore, harmless.)

February 2012, downtown, Athens

Uncropped for breadth and for subject: folklore.
Cropped for geometry and for subject: the kid. (The kid's for real, he isn't acting.)

San Quentin, may you rot and burn in hell

And you can't find your waitress with a Geiger counter
And she hates you and your friends
And you just can't get served without her
And the box-office is drooling
And the bar stools are on fire
And the newspapers were fooling
And the ashtrays have retired
Cause the piano has been drinking
Not me

April 2012, Acropolis Museum, Athens

Head of a female statue, 2nd cent. AD

A marble copy of a gold-and-ivory statue of the Classical period (5th-4th cent. BC), it represents a goddess, perhaps Aphrodite. The colour that has leaked below her eyes is probably a product of the oxidation of the statue's bronze eyelashes.
